Position and Access

Refuge Madeloc is in the commune of Port-Vendres, about 30km south of Perpignan.The house is situated at 465 metres, nestling against the hillside.

This is mountain country. Access is by narrow mountain roads, and the last 1km is a rough track. If you come by car you need good tyres and ground clearance, and a head for heights. (I regularly go up in my Zafira.) The drive down to the coastal towns takes 30 minutes. Some visitors prefer to leave their car at the road and walk 20 minutes up to the house.

Once there you have silence, great views of coast and mountain, birds, flowers and butterflies and many well signed paths for walking and biking.
